Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is home to many, many birds ranging from parakeets to macaws and even a Toucan! The population also includes many farm-raised birds such as emus, ostriches, chickens and peacocks. Many varieties of ducks, swans and various types of geese live year around in the pond area. Illustrating that the sanctuary is not just for birds, non-aviary residents include giant tortoises, llamas, donkeys, horses, ponies, goats and pigs. There is even a rescued mule-deer named “Bambi” for everyone to learn about.
